Servo-Motor

Engineers, experts in the autosynchronous axes and motors

The servo-motor is a system coupling electronic and mechanical elements. Its role is to first reach and then maintain specific positions. The motor output axis is guided by the orientation instruction given at input. A clamping system prevents rotation greater than one complete turn. The servo-motor is therefore not a drive system but a programmable control system. It is found in business sectors with a high production rate, such as agri-food, glassware and machining.

Created almost 20 years ago, our Servo-motor division employs a rigorous method for both repairs and interventions:

    • Modification of outdated products; repair/modification of the sensor.
    • Repair: chromage, ringing, molten metal refill of the various joint surfaces, complete refill of the motor shaft.
    • Validation of our procedures in close contact with the digital and electronic control division. Validation of coders through the PWM9 Heidenhain plant, PWM20 Heidenhain.

  • Dynamic test associated with a variable speed drive axis servo loop and digital control.

Our service covers a wide range of servomotors: auto-synchronous motors (brushless), DC, controlled asynchronous, step, water cooled, high speed and spindle motor.

DV GROUPs’ comprehensive expertise in electronics and electromechanics makes us a European leader in servo-motor repair.

Servomotor repair at DV Group

Test solutions guaranteeing 100% functional products

Procedure before dismantling

  • Check motor connectors.
  • Mechanical inspection: general condition, shaft, etc.
  • Electrical inspection (insulation, resistance, inductors, KE, etc.) according to the manufacturer’s data.
  • Electronic inspection: sensor, variable speed drive test.
  • Cooling control: ventilation, water circuit, etc.

Repair Procedure

  • Metrological inspection of bearing seatings, joint surfaces, flanges, shaft, etc.
  • Electrical inspection: ageing, pollution: BAKER index.
  • Visual inspection of the condition of the winding.
  • Inspection of the rotor blade. Ability to re-magnetize magnets.

Testing/validation procedure

Testing and validation is carried in an un-loaded, dynamic manner using a dedicated variable speed drive. This is done by means of an inertial disc coupled to the motor shaft to generate the nominal motor torque during the acceleration (for induction brushless motors) and deceleration phases.

Traceability procedure

  • Diagnosis and testing history.
  • Traceability produced by: machine number / customer number / DV GROUP number.
  • Test sheet and qualification/test certificate.

Case study :

OI

Need / Context

Glass producers must rebuild their furnaces every 15 years. The refractory brick component needs to be replaced to ensure its tightness of fit. During this shutdown, the OI Manufacturing site in Ardèche refurbishes the related equipment. Glass production has a reliability requirement, and must be able to ensure long periods without breakdown or maintenance stoppage.

Solutions

To achieve these availability and efficiency goals, the glass producer entrusts us with the removal, overhaul and refitting of its fifteen 750 KW - 50 Hz medium-voltage fan and compressor motors. For one month (800 hours), our teams from the various electromechanical sites in Grigny, Cambrai and Lyon mobilised to process these products and meet the deadlines imposed by our customer. We added DV GROUP know-how to the flawless organisation demanded by this project. OI Manufacturing has atypical 750 KW - 50 Hz medium voltage motors with plain oil bearings instead of ball bearings. These bearings carry a higher radial load and have a longer life than bearings. However, they require a specific expertise.

Results

- Deadlines met - Furnace restart with products 100% tested and 100% functional
